Handmade cool stuff made by artists: Throw-Away Toys, ValkenRo, Jason Kinsey and Milky along with Magitarius all participated in the Handmade Toy and Ceramic Show today in Greensboro NC. This show was a continued effort on the part of local toy and ceramic makers to bring more focus to the toy community here in North Carolina. Lots of handmade toys made from various materials like resin, broken discarded figures, found assemblages, and ceramics were among some of the items on display.
This community by the way has been steadily growing for years now and continues to evolve and produce toys and figures from North Carolina. The goal for a lot of these handmade toy makers is to direct more attention here and hopefully build a new circuit that will bring more toy makers and collectors from around the world to share with and grow.
For years the toy circuit here in North Carolina has consisted of the main toy and collectable shows in Greensboro twice a year at the Collisuim which you use to could find some really cool figures but now-a-days it is flooded with mainly wrestling(I actually like some of these!), GI Joe and new jack figures and it’s hard to find those rare pieces, all due in part to EBAY I’m sure. Not only that but half of the “toy show” is baseball cards and Nascar which doesn’t do anything for the toy collectors and appreciators. I love GI Joe as well but do I need to see 20 sellers of it with the same thing?
Anyways, I go to dig and find cool figures from Japan and other places which is very much lessening which is my point. We need more outlits to find cool toys here and so is the growing reason for the toy makers here to pull together and create this. So if you’re reading this please keep checking for more NC shows and come out and support us! Thanks.
